The information was published jointly by Realme and MediaTek. Realme has yet to announce a launch date for its upcoming smartphone. Earlier this month, alleged renders of the smartphone were leaked, along with some of its other key specs. The phone is said to feature a high refresh rate display and a 108MP main camera sensor.

Via Twitter sharing between Realme and MediaTek confirmed that the upcoming Realme 8i will be powered by the recently launched MediaTek Helio G96 SoC. The new processor supports displays with refresh rates up to 120 Hz and a rear camera sensor with resolutions up to 108 megapixels. In addition, the SoC also comes with the MediaTek Hyper Engine 2.0 Lite, which is said to intelligently manage the processor, GPU, and memory to ensure a smooth gaming experience. Finally, the new chipset also supports dual SIM 4G LTE connectivity.

Last week, renowned forecaster Steve Hemmerstoffer (@onleaks) in cooperation with Digit.in have shared some official Realme 8i renders. In addition, the analyst shared some of the key characteristics of the smartphone. The upcoming mid-range Realme could get a 6.59-inch Full-HD + display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a selfie camera cutout. Its MediaTek Helio G96 SoC is expected to be paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

In terms of optics, the smartphone is expected to receive a triple rear camera with a 50MP main sensor, a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro sensor. For selfies, it can get a 16MP main sensor. Realme is also expected to install a 5,000mAh battery, which will likely support fast charging. The smartphone is expected to have a thickness of 8.6 mm and a weight of 194 grams.

As for the design of the smartphone, the leaked renders suggest that its triple main camera will be housed in a rectangular module on the left side of the phone. At the bottom, it is visible with a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C port and speaker grill. The Realme 8i is expected to have a side-mounted fingerprint scanner that doubles as the power button on the right. On the left side is the volume rocker. At the front, the display will likely have thin bezels on three sides and a slightly thicker chin.
