Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC prepares to launch with 3.5GHz high frequency variant

Qualcomm is expected to unveil its next flagship SoC – the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 – in the coming months. Phones like iQoo 11 Pro and Xiaomi 13 Pro have already received a forecast to use the new flagship chipset. Now, a well-known leaker has speculated that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 could hit a peak clock speed of 3.4GHz to 3.5GHz. Qualcomm is believed to be working on a high-frequency variant that will launch alongside the base Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.

According to mail As hinted by Digital Chat Station on Weibo, Qualcomm may have hit clock speeds up to 3.5GHz with its flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The source believes that the company may plan to release two versions of this chipset, including an ultra-high frequency version.

The leaker claims that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC will provide better GPU performance compared to the current flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC released in May. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset has a peak clock speed of up to 3.2GHz.

There is no exact launch date for the SoC Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 yet. However, a previous report suggested that it could launch sometime between November 14 and 17. This rumor was based on an allegedly leaked list of Snapdragon Summit events. This report also claims that the flagship chipset has a CPU combination consisting of one Cortex-X3 core, two Cortex-A720 cores, two A710 cores, and three A510 cores.

For now, this chipset is speculated to be used in various upcoming flagship phones, including the iQoo 11 Pro, Oppo Find X Pro, and Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.
