Pixel 7 series with Google Tensor G2 SoC reportedly features improved battery life and 5G modem compared to Pixel 6

The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro launched in India earlier this month. The company’s latest Pixel-branded smartphones debuted the next-generation Tensor G2 SoC, which is manufactured using Samsung’s 4nm manufacturing process. This chipset is said to deliver improved CPU and GPU performance over the Pixel 6 series SoC. The Tensor G2 SoC has a maximum clock speed of 2.85GHz. It is also integrated with Mali-G710 GPU, Google Titan M2 security chip, and second generation EdgeTPU AI processor.

According to report SamMobile, The Google Tensor G2 SoC for the Pixel 7 series is manufactured on Samsung’s 4nm LPE process. This is said to be an upgrade from the 5nm LPE processor used in the previous Tensor SoC.

Google is said to be focusing on improving AI performance and security capabilities with the Tensor G2 SoC. The report mentions that the Tensor G2 SoC contains two ARM Cortex-X1 cores clocked at 2.85GHz, as well as two ARM Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.35GHz and four ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1. 8 GHz.

In addition, this chipset is said to be paired with the Mali-G710 GPU to improve gaming and HDR performance. The Google Tensor G2 SoC can also be integrated with the second generation EdgeTPU AI processor. It is reported to be compatible with LPDDR5 RAM. It has 4MB shared L3 cache and 8MB shared system cache.

The next generation Tensor G2 SoC is said to feature an improved Image Signal Processor (ISP) that allows 4K video recording at 60fps on all cameras. This chipset can reportedly handle a 108MP camera without stuttering or lag.

It features the recently announced Samsung Exynos 5300 5G modem, which can be faster and offer better power efficiency than the first-generation Tensor chipset modem that debuted in the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.
