The Google Pixel 6 series, the tech giant’s upcoming flagship lineup, will be positioned in the premium segment, given the company’s head’s comments on devices. The next generation line, which is expected to include the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, could compete with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S21 and Apple’s flagship iPhone line. Google’s senior vice president of devices and services, Rick Osterloh, teased that the Pixel 6 Pro will be expensive. This came after he confirmed that the Pixel 6 phones will run on Google’s own custom SoC called Tensor.
Osterlo said to the German-language magazine Der Spiegel and mentioned that the Pixel 6 Pro will be expensive. He added that even the Pixel 6 will be positioned in the “high end”. PhoneArena predicts that the Pixel 6 is likely to be priced between $ 899 and $ 999 (roughly Rs 66,600 to Rs 74,000), while the Pixel 6 Pro can be priced between $ 1,099 and $ 1,199 (roughly Rs 81,400 to Rs 88,900). If true, the Pixel 6 Pro will be the first phone from Google to go above $ 1,000 (roughly Rs 74,100). It will compete with the Galaxy S21 Ultra, which starts at $ 1,199 in the US, and even the next-gen iPhone 13 Pro Max will likely be priced north of $ 1,000.
“We have not been represented in the flagship smartphone segment for the past two years – and not quite before that. But the Pixel 6 Pro, which will be expensive, has been designed specifically for users looking for the latest technology. It is very important. a new approach for us, and we believe that it will help us to be attractive in new market segments. But the Pixel 6 is also in the upper segment and can keep up with rival products. I would call it a “premium staple,” said Osterloh. in Der Spiegel.
Osterloh also revealed in his interview that the Pixel 6 Pro will be equipped with a telephoto lens and will support 4x optical zoom. Both the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will be unveiled this fall and will run the latest Android 12 software. The overall design of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro is the same, with differences in screen size, camera lenses and some features. The camera module is a protruding strip that runs across the width of the phone and accommodates larger sensors than previous models.
