Any Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL owners should look forward to next year’s update, although it looks like it could be the last.
The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL came out in 2018, and the latest Pixel phones, Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, are in the spotlight and seem to have taken all the updates as well.
The November Pixel phone security patch release has come and gone, but the Pixel 3 and 3 XL have been removed, which is unsurprising since the initial guarantee was that smartphones will be updated with security patches until October 2021.
Older smartphones did hit the update period in October, giving the phones a new operating system running Android 12, but another update is coming soon, according to Google.
This update should happen during the first quarter of next year, which was also seen last year with the Pixel 2, which was dropped from updates in December but received its own final update a few days later.
This time, however, it seems like Google is giving itself at least a few months to complete the latest update, so it should provide a better overall experience for users as long as the company has time to iron out all the bugs.
The October update was purchased alongside Material You and Dynamic Color, but did not include updates related to apps that require the new Google Assistant.
It was also announced that the Pixel 3a and 3 XL series phones will receive guaranteed Android versions and security updates until next May, so you might be in trouble if you own the stock Pixel 3.
Depending on the time, this means that these two phones may be eligible for the Android 12L beta program, but that will depend on when the final version comes out.
