Oppo tweeted the smartphone’s unique pop-up camera technology. The Chinese tech company has shared a clip showing a smartphone with a retractable / retractable rear camera and hints at how it might work. The camera module is also considered durable and waterproof. The news comes a few days before the company’s annual tech event, Oppo Inno Day 2021. It will be a two-day program and Oppo is expected to showcase various technology innovations and products.
Together with a short video published On Twitter, Oppo says the in-house-designed pop-up camera isn’t as annoying as pop-up cameras on other smartphones. The video also hints at the work and features of the camera. The camera module hints that the camera will be equipped with a 1 / 1.56-inch sensor paired with a 50mm f / 2.4 aperture lens.
The video shows a camera that exits the module – similar to the one we see in hover and shoot cameras – and then descends to its original position. The camera is also sprayed with water, implying that the module (or phone) is waterproof. It is also suggested to be durable and withstand drops. Although there is no information on the operation of the camera, it is assumed that it can be used to provide optical zoom capabilities.
