Oppo Says It Will Work On A New Phone With MediaTek Dimensity 920, Specifications Leaked

Oppo recently unveiled three new Oppo Reno 7 series smartphones with Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G, MediaTek Dimensity 1200-Max and MediaTek Dimensity 900 processors. The Chinese smartphone maker is now reportedly planning to introduce a phone based on the MediaTek Dimensity 920 chipset. The name of the phone is not yet known, but some specs and pricing information for the upcoming Dimensity 920-based device has surfaced online. The upcoming Oppo phone could carry triple rear cameras and a 4,500mAh battery with 60W super flash charging function.

Tipster Arsenal published about the new Oppo phone coming to Weibo. Oppo’s MediaTek Dimensity 920-based phone will come with two storage options, according to the whistleblower. The 8GB + 128GB storage model is said to cost CNY1999 (approximately Rs 23,400), while the top model with 8GB + 256GB storage costs CNY 2,299 (approximately Rs 26,900).

Oppo’s new upcoming phone is predicted to have a 6.43-inch AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a maximum brightness of 1,300 nits. The display is said to be protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass. As mentioned earlier, the phone comes with MediaTek Dimensity 920, released in August this year. The chipset, designed for 5G smartphones, is built using a 6nm manufacturing node and supports 4K HDR hardware video capture. The processor will have 8 GB of RAM and 128/256 GB of UFS 2.2 storage.

In terms of optics, the Oppo phone is equipped with a triple rear camera with a 64MP main camera, similar to the Oppo Reno 7 5G. The rear camera module is said to include a Sony IMX355 ultra-wide camera and a 4cm macro camera. A 16MP front camera is expected for selfies in the smartphone. According to the informant, the new phone will be equipped with a 4500mAh battery with support for 60W Super Flash fast charging.

At the moment, Oppo has not yet confirmed the development of a new phone based on the Dimensity 920. So this information should be treated with some degree of skepticism. Oppo’s rival Xiaomi recently launched the Redmi Note 11 Pro and Redmi Note 11 Pro +, both powered by MediaTek’s octa-core Dimensity 920 SoC.
