OnePlus, Realme, and Asus have announced smartphones powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, just a day after Qualcomm launched its flagship chipset. Asus will launch the ROG Phone 6 gaming smartphone based on Qualcomm’s latest chipset, while the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC from OnePlus is due to hit the market in the third quarter of this year. Realme also announced that its GT2 Master Explorer Edition will be the first phone to feature the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. Recall that several other manufacturers have announced the use of new Qualcomm SoCs, but these are the first few manufacturers to reveal specific plans.
OnePlus in a Weibo post teased upcoming smartphone equipped with SoC Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 on the official Weibo page. Although the company has not revealed the name of the phone, OnePlus has said that the smartphone will hit the market in the third quarter of 2022.
Realme GT2 Master Explorer Edition will also feature Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. In fact, Realme also argued in its Weibo post that the flagship smartphone will be the first Android mobile device to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ processor. An official launch date for the phone has yet to be announced.
And finally, Taiwanese electronics giant Asus also confirmed that the ROG Phone 6 series, which will be launched as a variant of Tencent in the Chinese market, will feature Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC in both Chinese and global variant. The ROG brand also made announcement on its official Instagram page, which states that the ROG Phone 6 will be the first gaming smartphone to feature the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. Earlier this year, 2D renders of the ROG Phone 6 series were leaked. The design of the upcoming Asus ROG Phone 6 series was shown to be similar to the Asus ROG Phone 5 series.
Qualcomm recently launched Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoCs as their latest mobile platforms. Qualcomm claims that the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is capable of delivering up to 10 percent faster CPU performance and a 30 percent improvement in power efficiency over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. As we mentioned, in addition to OnePlus, Realme and Asus, several other manufacturers have announced they will release smartphones with the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, including Black Shark, Honor, iQoo, Lenovo, Motorola, Nubia, Oppo, Redmi, Vivo, Xiaomi, and ZTE.
