OnePlus Nord, OnePlus Nord CE 5G receives OxygenOS update with performance improvements

OnePlus Nord and OnePlus CE 5G are receiving the OxygenOS and OxygenOS updates, respectively. Both smartphones are also getting the Android security patch update – August 2021 for OnePlus Nord and July 2021 for OnePlus Nord CE 5G. The updates also contain new features, bug fixes and improvements for the two pocket smartphones from OnePlus. As is usually the case with most OnePlus smartphone updates, the updates will also be rolled out in stages.

The updates for OnePlus Nord (Review) and OnePlus Nord CE 5G (Review) have been announced across pair community forum posts.

OnePlus is updating the Always-On Display (AOD) with the OxygenOS update for OnePlus Nord. Users will now be able to take screenshots of their AOD. In addition, users also get a Bitmoji AOD co-developed with Snapchat. It brings the users’ Bitmoji avatar to AOD, and the avatar is updated throughout the day based on user activity and their surroundings. To activate, go to Settings> Preferences> Ambient Display Clock> Bitmoji

The OnePlus Nord CE 5G is getting improved system performance, the June 2021 Google Mobile Services (GMS) update, and optimized camera effects.

OnePlus Nord update firmware versions are, and for India, Europe and North America markets respectively. OnePlus Nord CE 5G receives firmware versions, and for India, Europe and North America.

The update comes bundled with the August 2021 Android security patch for OnePlus Nord, and the OnePlus Nord CE 5G receives the July 2021 Android security patch. The size of the updates has not yet been announced. Users are advised to update their OnePlus smartphones while connected to a reliable Wi-Fi connection and on charging.

Typically, OnePlus will release updates in stages. The update is expected to reach all eligible smartphones wirelessly automatically. To manually check for updates, follow the link Settings> System> System Updates

The company recommends OnePlus Nord users have at least 30 percent battery life and at least 3GB of available storage before they upgrade their smartphone.
