In 2022, OnePlus has been busy making a plethora of phones that are accessible to most people on a budget. To continue this trend, the company is believed to be close to releasing the successor to its popular OnePlus Nord N10 5G, which first debuted back in November 2020.
We’ve rounded up all the latest news and rumors about the upcoming device so you know what to expect when it arrives. Here’s our guide to the OnePlus Nord N20 5G.
When will OnePlus Nord N20 be released?
There is no official word yet from OnePlus on when we should expect the Nord N20. There have been many rumors in the past pointing to a February release, but apparently they never materialized.
Instead, the OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G was announced, with a global launch on March 11, 2022, with the OnePlus 10 Pro due later that month.
This has caused several rumor sites to revise their predictions and now the general consensus seems to be that OnePlus will introduce the Nord N20 5G at May 11, 2022. How realistic this is, we do not know. So, for the time being, we will continue to dig for more details until we can reveal the actual date.
One clue could be that another expected device, the OnePlus Nord 2T, is rumored to arrive in April/May. Maybe OnePlus will take the opportunity to release both new models at once?
How much will the OnePlus Nord N20 5G cost?
Again, we have nothing to say about prices. The only real clue is the previous Nord N10 5G model, which launched at £329/€349/$299. OnePlus has slashed those numbers over the course of its existence, but it’s entirely possible that the new Nord N20 5G will launch with similar price tags.
For comparison, here’s how the other available OnePlus devices line up:
- OnePlus Nord N100: £179 / €199 / $179.99 (about £18,165)
- OnePlus Nord CE 2 5G: £299 / €349 / £24,999 (around $395)
- OnePlus Nord 2 5G: £399 / €499 / £29,999 (about $525)
What specs and features will we see in the OnePlus Nord N20 5G?
Since OnePlus is keeping quiet about the Nord N20 5G, there are confirmed details on the specs and features, but we’ve seen plenty of leaks that give us a good idea of what the phone might contain.
A partnership that has proved useful in recent months is OnLeaks and 91Mobiles, who have teamed up to reveal several unreleased device specs. The two have been doing it again recently, breaking down in some detail what components will appear in the Nord N20 5G.
Based on the leaked renders we’ve seen provided by OnLeaks and 91Mobiles, the Nord N20 5G will feature a square-edged design similar to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G that was also recently released. Both, of course, take something from that aesthetic from the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 lineup, which reintroduce sharper lines that now seem to be back in style.
91Mobiles says the dimensions are roughly 158.8mm x 73.1mm x 7.7mm, making it a fairly compact but tall device. There is a single speaker on the bottom edge, which also houses a USB-C charging port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. As with some other recent OnePlus devices, the classic mute slider button is gone. Sad.
Several reports say that OnePlus Nord N20 5G will use Qualcomm Snapdragon 695. This is the same lower mid-range chip used in recent phones such as Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G, Realme 9 Pro, Vivo T1 5G, Moto G71. and Poco X4 Pro.
Most reports also state that the processor will be assisted by 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, the latter of which can be expanded by another 512GB via a microSD card.
Another well-known element is the display, which is expected to be a 6.43-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 and a density of 409 ppi. The hole-punch houses a 16-megapixel front-facing camera, and there’s also an under-display fingerprint sensor.
Three cameras are expected to ship with the Nord N20 5G, consisting of a 48MP main sensor, complemented by a 2MP macro lens and a 2MP mono/depth lens. That’s pretty standard fare for 2022, although as with most of its contemporaries, it’s really a single camera with a couple of extra sensors, rather than a true three-camera array.
Communication and battery
Apart from the tent features, you should also find support for 5G, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, and dual SIM capabilities in the Nord N20 5G. The 4500mAh battery will power anything that can be topped up quickly with 30W fast charging support.
Obviously, until OnePlus announces the Nord N20 5G, these specs remain speculative, although a detailed report makes us confident that this could very well be what you’ll find in the finished product.
