OnePlus has officially revealed the existence of the North 2 and has confirmed that it will drop Qualcomm chips.
As had been much rumored, the event OnePlus Nord 2 will exchange Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips for one from MediaTek. Specifically, it will be at Dimensity 1200-AI.
While the Dimension 1200 is a freely available SoC (system-on-chip), OnePlus uses an exclusive model with an additional focus on artificial intelligence – hence the AI label.
OnePlus said it has worked closely with MediaTek on the chip and that it will benefit from a number of upcoming issues. budget phone, including the camera, display and game.

This is a big change for OnePlus
This is a notable change for OnePlus and for the North series, which is the first time it has moved away from Qualcomm and its famous Snapdragon chip line.
The previous one North using the Snapdragon 765G, for example. What effect this has on futures, such as the OnePlus 9T, remains to be seen.
What does the Dimension 1200-AI offer?
We know more about the performance of this chip once the phone is officially detailed, but OnePlus has detailed some areas where this chip should help.
A new AI Photo Enhancement feature for photographers can recognize 22 different photography scenarios, automatically adjusting colors and contrast depending on the environment.
OnePlus will also use some AI skills to help the display as well, automatically shooting SDR content to HDR and enhancing videos up to HD.
It also has a 5G chip and the OnePlus Nord 2 will be a 5G phone.
What else do we know about the OnePlus Nord 2?
OnePlus might have revealed that the Nord 2 is real, but there’s little more confirmed at this stage. We don’t even know when it will come out, be announced or how much it will cost.
Some previous rumors have suggested that the phone will have a 50MP rear camera, a 4500mAh battery and a 6.43-inch display.
