OnePlus 11 5G review, OnePlus Buds Pro 2: additional but noteworthy updates

The OnePlus 11 5G, the successor to the OnePlus 10 Pro 5G that debuted last year, debuted in India on Tuesday. This phone may not have the word “Pro” in its name, but it is equipped with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and supports 100W fast charging. The company has also launched the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 which is said to offer big improvements over its predecessor. Meanwhile, the company has also announced several other devices that will be available in the coming months, including the OnePlus 11R 5G, the new OnePlus Pad, the OnePlus TV 65 Q2 Pro, and the OnePlus Keyboard 81 Pro.
This week on the Gadgets 360 Orbital podcast, host Siddharth Suvarna sits down with review editor Roydon Serekho and senior reviewer Ali Pardivala to discuss the OnePlus 11 5G and OnePlus Buds Pro 2 TWS earbuds, which launched on Tuesday. We’ll also be discussing other new OnePlus devices announced during the Cloud 11 launch that are coming in the coming months.
The OnePlus 11 5G is the company’s most powerful smartphone so far, and it didn’t have to make many changes compared to its OnePlus 10 Pro 5G predecessor. The company has also fixed some of our complaints that were present on the previous generation smartphone. You get the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC at a lower price than the iQoo 11 5G and the entry-level Samsung Galaxy S23. At the event, the company also unveiled another phone with a similar design, the OnePlus 11R.
Oddly enough, the OnePlus 11 5G does not support wireless charging, which was present in last year’s model. However, all cameras have been upgraded by the company. The macro mode is back and the ultra-wide camera is better, as we noted in our review. However, it only has an (unofficial) IP64 rating, and the selfie camera is significantly worse than the OnePlus 10 Pro. If things like wireless charging and better waterproofing are important to you, should you still consider last year’s model?
OnePlus 11 5G review: the best one?
The OnePlus Buds Pro 2 were released two years after the company launched its first high-end headphones and features notable upgrades such as dual-driver setup and head-tracking spatial audio. These TWS earbuds are great earbuds right out of the box, unlike the old model which has been updated to support more codecs. Currently, Hi-Res audio streaming is blocked for phones that support the LHDC audio codec, including phones from Xiaomi, Oppo or OnePlus.
We also saw the OnePlus Pad at the event, the company’s first tablet. This device will go on sale in April and seems to be aimed at productive users with a more square (7:5) aspect ratio. We haven’t had much time to use the device, but stay tuned to our website and YouTube channel for a review in the coming months. There are some features that will be exclusive to OnePlus phones, such as tethering your OnePlus phone to share its 5G connection or copy and paste between devices.
OnePlus Buds Pro 2 review: Making a good thing better
OnePlus has also launched the new OnePlus TV 65 Q2 Pro smart TV, which is available with a single 65-inch display. This TV costs about Rs. 1 lakh and does not have a retractable soundbar like its predecessor. It features a 70W speaker and a QLED display panel. It will also support Dolby Atmos, HDR content and we hope to publish a review of this device in the coming months.
At the event, the company also announced another pair of more affordable TWS headphones, the OnePlus Buds Pro 2R. It does not support head-tracking spatial audio like the OnePlus Buds Pro 2, nor does it support wireless charging. A new OnePlus mechanical keyboard and wireless router were also announced, but we didn’t get a chance to chat with them at the presentation.
Lastly, OnePlus said it will showcase a new OnePlus concept smartphone at Mobile World Congress (MWC 2023) and teased what appears to be a foldable phone that could launch in the third quarter of 2023, but we don’t have more details on it. these phones at the moment.
