OnePlus 10T confirmed – very soon

OnePlus will officially announce its second global flagship launch of the year, the OnePlus 10T 5G, at an event on August 3rd.

The company has confirmed that it will be hosting its first in-person event since 2019 at New York’s Gotham Hall in two weeks time today at 3:00 pm BST (10:00 am EDT). As expected, the event will also be broadcast.

In a post on the company’s website Community Web Page, we see the back of the new flagship. This black model has a distinctive textured finish.

This will be the first “T” model since the OnePlus 8T at the end of 2020. These T models tend to be mid-cycle updates, though of course there was no OnePlus 10 this year to base them on.

If OnePlus insists, the OnePlus 10T will likely fall short of the OnePlus 10 Pro in terms of display, camera configuration, and premium design. The 10T is rumored to feature 150W ultra-fast charging.

Not much was officially known about the OnePlus 10T ahead of this event, except that it will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. The current OnePlus 10 Pro is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, so the new phone will be better than its older brother, according to at least in this respect.

OnePlus also confirmed that the 10T will feature the latest OxygenOS 13 UI. To date, this year’s OnePlus phones, including the OnePlus 10 Pro and OnePlus Nord 2T, are equipped with OxygenOS 12.1, which has received negative feedback from fans of the company’s historically clean approach to software.

With OxygenOS 12, OnePlus has switched its software to the ColorOS base, which is a user interface built by parent company Oppo. With OxygenOS 13, the company is sticking to that foundation, but has promised to clean up the user interface.

Naturally, we will update you with all the OnePlus 10T news as it becomes available.
