Motorola will be the first manufacturer to install Samsung’s 200MP camera sensor on its smartphone. A model with a separate camera sensor may debut in the first half of 2022. Samsung unveiled its 200-megapixel ISOCELL HP1 sensor in September. It uses a new pixel binning technology that helps to achieve a maximum image resolution of 200 megapixels. Together with Motorola, Xiaomi plans to launch its 200-megapixel phone next year. Samsung, on the other hand, may introduce its own model with a 200MP camera in 2023.
Tipster, who is known on Twitter under the pseudonym Ice Universe, claimed that Motorola will be the first to introduce its 200-megapixel camera phone. It will be followed by Xiaomi, which is expected to release its new smartphone with a 200MP camera in the second half of next year. In addition, the analyst claimed that Samsung plans to release its 200MP camera phone in 2023 – after Motorola and Xiaomi.
Motorola and other manufacturers have yet to confirm their plans, although an analyst from China confirmed details have been posted on Twitter and the Motorola phone is expected to be the first phone to feature Samsung’s 200MP camera.
The Samsung ISOCELL HP1 200-megapixel sensor has a pixel size of 0.64 microns. It also features patented Chameleon Cell technology, which uses a two-by-two, four-by-four, or full-pixel layout – depending on the environment – to enable users to capture images at resolutions ranging from 12.5 to 200 megapixels.
In addition to the 200MP camera phone, Motorola is reportedly working on the Moto Edge X, which may have a 0.61μm OmniVision OV60A 60MP selfie camera sensor. The Moto Edge X also has a 50MP 1 / 1.55-inch OmniVision OV50A main camera on the rear.
The Moto Edge X release was recently confirmed by the General Manager of Lenovo Mobile Business Group. The phone also allegedly appeared on some TENAA listings last week.
