Mobile internet services suspended across Rajasthan for 24 hours to avoid public tensions

The Rajasthan government on Tuesday imposed restraining orders and suspended mobile internet across the state due to public tensions following the murder of a tailor in Udaipur.

Chief Secretary Usha Sharma instructed officials to suspend mobile internet service across the state for 24 hours and enact section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CPC), which bans gatherings of more than four people, in all districts of the state for a month.

Holidays for police and administration officials have also been cancelled. Sharma held a high-level meeting with senior officers, including Additional Chief Secretary (Interior) Abhay Kumar, Director General of Police M.L. Later, and others, to review the situation.

“The Chief Secretary has directed all precinct commissioners, police inspectors general and county inspectors to take special action across the state,” the official statement said.

Security measures taken in connection with the murder of a man in the Udaipur region. The killers posted three confession videos online and were soon arrested.

Indirect attackers also referred to Nupur Sharma, the BJP leader who was suspended from the party for speaking out about the Prophet Mohammed.

Sharma ordered all department officials to block the distribution of videos of the incident and take action against those who distribute them, the report said.

She said that a call should be made to religious leaders to cooperate in maintaining intercommunal harmony and peace.

Previously, a curfew was imposed at seven police stations in Udaipur from 20:00 Tuesday until further notice.

In the meantime, two additional Director Generals of Police, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Superintendent of Police, 30 Rajasthan Police Service officers and 5 Rajasthan Armed Police (RAC) companies were sent to Udaipur. Kanhaya Lal was recently arrested by the local police due to his social media comments.
