Mobile device imports to Pakistan down 67.62% in Q1 FY23

Pakistan imported mobile phones worth $160.271 million in the first quarter (July-September) of the current fiscal year 2022-23 (Fiscal Year 23), down 67.62% from $494.960 million in the same period of the previous year.

According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), mobile phone imports fell 7.38% m/m to $58.407 million in September 2022 from $63.06 million in August 2022.

In September 2022, mobile phone imports fell 72.06% year-on-year to $209.013 million from $209.013 million in the previous month.

Overall, imports of telecommunications services into the country amounted to $248.998 million in the first quarter of fiscal year 23, down 60.96% from $637.874 million in the same period in the previous fiscal year.

However, telecom imports fell 70.89 percent year-on-year in September 2022 to $78.846 million from $270.823 million in September 2021. August 2022.

Imports of other equipment in July-September 2022 amounted to $88.727 million, down 37.92% from the previous fiscal year of $142.914 million.

Other handset remained at $20.439 million in September 2022, representing a negative growth of 66.93% from $61.810 million in September 2021 and a negative growth of 46.88% m/m from $38.477 million dollars in August 2022.
