The Mi 12, Xiaomi’s next generation flagship model, is reported to be equipped with new LPDDR5X memory. The LPDDR5X configuration was announced just a day ago by JEDEC, and now rumored to be one of the first smartphones with this technology will be the Mi 12. The phone is expected to launch sometime in the end of the year and will probably be powered by it. the latest Qualcomm processor announced later this year. The Mi 12 is also rumored to have a 200MP main sensor.
Tipster Ice Universe general on Weibo that the Xiaomi Mi 12 could pack the recently announced LPDDR5X memory. The new RAM configuration provides maximum data transfer rates from 6400 Mbps to 8,533 Mbps, which is double that of LPDDR4X. It also comes with TX / RX equalization to improve signal integrity and new adaptive update control to improve reliability.
MyDrivers report claims the Mi 12 could be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 SoC, which will likely have LPDDR5X support. This belies previous reports that the Mi 12 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 895 SoC. Whatever the marketing name for the next-gen chipset, Qualcomm is half a month ahead of schedule and that could lead to a chipset launch in early December. The Mi 12 is expected to be announced shortly thereafter, although availability may be delayed. Recall that Mi 11 was presented in December last year, and its official launch took place sometime in February this year.
We know very little about the Mi 12 at this point, but previous reports claim the phone is equipped with a 200MP main camera from Samsung and Olympus. This 200MP sensor is rumored to use 16-in-1 pixel binning to output 12MP images with large pixels. Also, the camera module of the phone may have the Olympus logo. In addition, the Mi 12 will likely have a curved display with a single camera cutout for selfies.
