MediaTek Helio G96 and MediaTek Helio G88 SoCs have been announced by the chipmaker for upcoming smartphones. MediaTek Helio G96 can be paired to 120Hz full-HD display, can integrate a 108-megapixel camera, and supports 4G LTE with two 4G SIM cards. The MediaTek Helio G88, on the other hand, supports a full-HD + display with a 90Hz refresh rate, a 64-megapixel camera and 4G VoLTE. Both SoCs are equipped with MediaTek’s HyperEngine 2.0 Lite gaming technology. SoCs will likely be seen in Android phones that are positioned in the mid-range budget segment.
They start with the MediaTek Helio G96 SoC, offers support for 120Hz screens with resolutions up to Full-HD +. It is said that the display has no limitations in the DDIC supply, the C-phy or D-phy interface and the SoC supports both LCD and AMOLED display. The Helio G96 features two Arm Cortex-A76 CPUs running at up to 2.05GHz. There is also LPDDR4X memory and UFS 2.2 storage. It also supports 108-megapixel cameras for more detailed images, fast integration of WorldMode Cat-13 4G LTE modem, dual 4G SIM and VoLTE and ViLTE services, in addition to the Company’s Intelligent Resource Management Engine and Network Engine.
MediaTek Helio G88 SoC, on the other hand, supports the 90Hz display refresh rate and the octa-core CPU features two Arm Cortex-A75 CPUs running up to 2.0GHz. The Helio G88 offers support for 64-megapixel main cameras, a hardware depth engine for dual bokeh camera capture, a Camera Control Unit (CCU), Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS), and Rolling Shutter Compensation (RSC). Helio G88 comes with integrated voice alarm for voice assistant services.
Both SoCs have MediaTek’s HyperEngine 2.0 generation technology that is said to intelligently manage CPU, GPU and memory to allow for a smooth gaming experience. It is said to also help in saving energy during high FPS games by extending battery life. It is said that the technology allows intelligent forecasting of Wi-Fi connection and 4G connection.
