iPhone 14 Pro dynamic island could be coming to all iPhone 15 models next year: Ross Young

The Apple Dynamic Island feature, which is currently only available on iPhone 14 Pro models, is now reportedly coming to more iPhone models next year. Dynamic Island is a software feature that not only hides Apple’s new TrueDepth camera system, but is also well integrated into user interface elements, allowing for new ways to display and interact with notifications and status indicators. However, according to the analyst, the company’s 120Hz ProMotion displays will be limited to Pro models.
Display industry analyst Ross Young argues that tweet that Apple is expected to make the newly introduced Dynamic Island available for iPhone 15 models next year, meaning it may not be limited to Pro models such as the recently launched iPhone 14 series. Ross also claims that while it is expected that Dynamic Island will be available on all iPhone 15 models, while 120Hz Apple ProMotion displays will continue to be limited to Pro models.
The 120Hz LTPO displays found on Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro models will remain exclusive to next year’s Pro models as Apple’s current display supplier BOE is unable to support production of such displays to meet the tech giant’s requirements, the analyst said. The display analyst also stated that Apple’s ProMotion displays could be available on less expensive iPhone models by 2024.
The availability of Apple’s Dynamic Island on low-end iPhone models is likely to increase developer support for the feature. But it may also discourage some buyers from buying the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus this year, as both of these new iPhone models are missing a feature that could eventually become the standard way to interact with iPhone.
This year, Apple also made another difference between its standard iPhone and iPhone Pro models by switching to last year’s A15 Bionic processor (with 5-core GPU) instead of the latest A16 Bionic SoC, which is currently exclusive to Pro models. The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus appear to be the only new products announced at Apple’s latest event to feature an older generation processor, as even the new 2nd generation Apple Watch SE has been upgraded to the new SiP found on the latest Apple Watch. Series 8 and Apple Watch Ultra models.
