iPhone 14 Pro could have a 48MP primary sensor, according to TrendForce report

The iPhone 14 Pro may come with a 48-megapixel main camera. As confirmed by a recent report, this will be the third time the iPhone has increased the resolution of its main camera.

As of January 12 report According to TrendForce, Apple’s upcoming flagship iPhone 14 Pro will feature a 48-megapixel camera.

While growth in camera shipments has slowed, camera resolution continues to improve. Taking main cameras as an example, the current main design is 13-48 million pixels, which is more than 50 percent of cameras in 2021. In second place are products with 49-64 million pixels, accounting for more than 20 percent of cameras. per year, with penetration expected to increase to 23 percent in 2022. The third place is occupied by products with 12 million pixels, currently dominated by the iPhone and Samsung’s flagship series. However, the main camera with 48 million pixels is expected to be introduced in the iPhone 14 Pro series (tentative name) that Apple will release this year, further reducing the share of products with 12 million pixels to 15 percent in 2022. .

According to report Apple Insider, it’s likely that Apple needs a higher resolution to offer 8K video recording on its Pro phones, but they will also shoot at different resolutions depending on the scene.

Portrait or landscape may need more megapixels, while low-light photography may end up with 12-megapixels.

Well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has repeatedly pointed to the 48-megapixel main camera of the iPhone 14 Pro. He also said that the iPhone 15 will have a zoom periscope in 2023.

As for the front of the iPhone 14, some reports claim it will shrink the full-length notch in favor of a punch-hole camera, either single or pill-shaped with Face ID built in.
