IPhone 13 may launch in third week of September, LiDAR Sensor confirmed

The iPhone 13 will be released in the third week of September, the investment company said. The iPhone 13 Pro models in this series are also reported to have up to 1TB of storage – an upgrade from existing 512GB storage. While Apple hasn’t provided any details on the iPhone 13 series, it is rumored that the new lineup could include four different models – the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, and iPhone 13 mini.

As reported by 9to5Mac, Wedbush Securities, citing supply chain sources, says the iPhone 13 will have a “normal” release timing and is believed to take place in the third week of September.

Confirming earlier reports, the Los Angeles, California-based investment firm said the entire iPhone 13 lineup will feature Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) scanning technology. This is unlike the iPhone 12 series, where the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max were the only models to feature LiDAR sensors. However, a recent report from research firm TrendForce suggested that LiDAR sensors would be limited to the Pro series models.

Apple could update its augmented reality (AR) capabilities by offering LiDAR scanners for its 2021 iPhone lineup. The company is also expected to introduce iPhone 13 Pro models with 1TB storage.

The iPhone 13 family is expected to ship between 90 million and 100 million units, up from the iPhone 12 series, which reached 80 million units. Wedbush also suggested that demand for the iPhone 13 will be the same or slightly higher than the iPhone 12. A recent Bloomberg report said Apple is aiming to increase iPhone 13 production by 20 percent this year.

Some recent reports have suggested that the iPhone 13 series will feature an Always-on display similar to the Apple Watch and will include Wi-Fi 6E. There may also be faster wireless charging and two new color options – Pearl and Sunset Gold.

Apple has yet to officially announce the iPhone 13 series. Thus, one can treat the reported details with some degree of skepticism.
