The Infinix Note 11 and Infinix Note 11S are receiving a software update that brings enhanced RAM functionality. It will help users improve multitasking by virtually expanding the onboard RAM up to 3GB. Infinix claims that using extended RAM technology, the number of applications that the Infinix Note 11S can run concurrently increases from nine to 20. The average launch speed of applications running concurrently will also be increased by 60 percent to 300 milliseconds in the Infinix Note. 11 series, the company said.
With the expanded RAM feature, the Infinix Note 11 and Infinix Note 11S will use onboard storage for virtual operation as RAM. The company said the new addition will help users quickly access apps and games, even as they switch between them.
The 8GB + 128GB RAM version of the Infinix Note 11S will be increased from 3GB to 11GB with an update. The 6 GB model will be able to expand the RAM by 1 GB up to 7 GB. The Infinix Note 11 4GB + 64GB variant will bump up the 1GB RAM to 5GB.
Infinix is rolling out software changes in the form of an over-the-air (OTA) update for both the Note 11 and Note 11S, and will reach all users in the coming days. You can find updates on your phone by going to Settings > System > System update > Online update…
According to the company, this feature will take effect automatically when there is not enough RAM to ensure smooth operation. This means that users will not be able to manually enable any settings on their phones to access change RAM.
It’s important to note that Infinix isn’t the only smartphone maker to offer expanded RAM on their new phones. Companies like Realme, Samsung, Vivo and Xiaomi have provided similar features on their phones for using onboard storage as RAM.
Infinix Note 11 and Note 11S were launched in India last month. Both phones are equipped with triple rear cameras and 5,000mAh batteries.
