How to watch Game Awards 2022

It’s time for the Game Awards, an annual event that celebrates the accomplishments of developers over the past 12 months. However, there are usually new game trailers and announcements for the thousands of fans who tune in from home, making this a must-watch event whether you care about the prizes or not.
If you want to know when the 2022 ceremony will take place, how to watch it, and what to expect from the show this year, keep reading.
When is Game Awards 2022?
The Game Awards usually take place in December and this year is no different. The main show will be broadcast Thursday, December 8, 2022. It will start at the following times:
- 00:30 GMT (December 9)
- 7:30 pm ET
- 4:30 p.m. PT
- 1:30 am CET (December 9)
The lead time hasn’t been confirmed, but last year’s event took about three and a half hours, so get comfortable. If you are especially in the UK, late night/early morning awaits you.
The event will be streamed live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, where an in-person ceremony will take place.
How can I watch the Game Awards 2022?
The organizers promise that you will be able to watch the Game Awards on over 40 global video platforms, including YouTube, Twitch, Facebook and Twitter.
We’ll embed the stream into the article closer to the time so you can bookmark this page and watch directly from here.
Streamers will also have the option to co-stream the event as it airs for a live reaction. You can subscribe to the co-stream here.
If you’re in the US and want to spend an evening on the big screen, then IMAX theaters will be holding screenings.
Who will present the awards?
Geoff Keighley is back to host the evening, and if this year is anything like the previous ones, there should be plenty of celebrity cameos to help spread the awards.
We’ll likely post more here about guest appearances and any musical numbers closer to the event.
What trailers and announcements will be?
In addition to the awards, we’ll also see a whole bunch of exciting news for 2023 and beyond, including new game trailers and announcements, special in-game events, and even playable demos that will drop during the show. There will also be a Game Awards sale taking place across multiple PC and console stores.
There are no official gameplay trailers yet. However, there are rumors that we may get news or footage for the new Crash Bandicoot game, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (the sequel to Fall Order), and Final Fantasy XVI.
Again, we expect more information closer to the event.
Game Awards 2022 nominees
Nominees Announced: God of War Ragnarok, Elden Ring, and Horizon Forbidden West lead.
The winners are determined by a joint vote of the jury and the audience. The audience vote takes into account only 10% of the total score, the remaining 90% is determined by the jury.
Viewer voting is now open in all categories. This also includes the Player’s Voice, an award determined solely by public voting.
