How to use Samsung Pass

Samsung Pass is essentially Samsung’s answer to autofill with Google, providing Samsung users with a secure way to store sensitive information such as logins and banking information and use that information to automatically sign in to apps, websites and more.

The question is how to set up on a Samsung phone? While the process is slightly different depending on the version of Android and Samsung OneUI your phone is using, setting it up is easier than you might think.

Here we will show you how to set up Samsung Pass on your smartphone. For reference, in this guide, we used a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra running Android 13 and Samsung OneUI 5.1.

What you will need:

Short version

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Navigate to the Security & Privacy section (also listed as Biometrics & Security).
  3. Tap Samsung Pass.
  4. Sign in to your Samsung account.
  5. Confirm/Register your fingerprint.
  6. Add your usernames, passwords, and other details to Samsung Pass.

    Open the Settings app on your Samsung smartphone.

    On your Samsung smartphone, open the Settings app. If you are not sure, this is the app with the mechanical gear icon.

    Click Security & Privacy.

    Scroll through the main Settings menu until you find the Security & Privacy submenu (it may also be listed as Biometrics & Security on some Samsung phones). Touch it.

    Click “Samsung Pass”.

    Scroll down the “Biometrics and Security” menu until you find “Samsung Pass”, which is usually found under the “Security” menu section. Touch it.

    Sign in to your Samsung account

    You will be taken to the Samsung Pass introductory page explaining the concept of the service. Click Continue. As a security measure, you will be prompted to enter your Samsung account password before you can access the Samsung Pass settings menu.

    Register or verify your fingerprint

    You will then be taken to the Biometric Enrollment menu if this is your first time using the Samsung Pass and you have yet to enroll your fingerprint. Just click “Fingerprints” at the bottom of the page and scan the desired fingerprint.

    However, if you have already registered your fingerprint to unlock your phone, you will skip this step and after scanning your fingerprint, you will be taken to the main menu of Samsung Pass.

    Complete the setup process

    After enrolling your fingerprint, you’re ready to use Samsung Pass to sign in to apps, accounts, and websites. From here, you can manually add addresses, passwords, and other sensitive data that Samsung Pass can use to sign in to various apps and websites on your smartphone.

Troubleshooting

Where can I use Samsung Pass?

Samsung Pass can be used on a range of apps and websites to provide quick access without having to manually enter a password, although the type of biometrics you can use and where you can use it will depend on the app in question. Some may allow you to sign in with your fingerprint, but when it comes to making a purchase, they may still require you to enter a password.

Can I delete saved data from Samsung Pass?

If you decide you no longer want to use Samsung Pass to store digital passwords, you can go to Settings > Security & Privacy > Samsung Pass > Three-dot menu > Settings > Clear Data .
