Google Releases Android 14 Developer Preview for Pixel Devices: All the Details
Google has announced the release of the Android 14 Developer Preview. However, it is currently available exclusively for Pixel smartphones, including the Pixel 7 series, Pixel 6 series, Pixel 6a, Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, and Pixel 4a. The Developer Preview contains many updates and features, including faster interface speeds, power optimizations, and security and privacy improvements. It also added larger fonts with non-linear scaling for all apps. It also optimized the battery usage of background apps.

Android 14 Developer Preview hints at larger fonts in a new update with non-linear scaling up to 200 percent, which is currently 130 percent on Pixel devices. Developers can check this by going to Settings > Accessibility > Screen Size and Text Settings. Improved font scaling also applies to large screens and foldable devices. Another major change is that most newly installed apps will no longer be granted permissions beforehand, instead they will be denied by default.
The new operating system also optimizes battery usage for applications running in the background. This will prevent unwanted applications from using your phone’s battery. In addition, the update will also allow apps to use less background energy when downloading files. It will also include updated lists of restricted non-SDK interfaces.
