Google Pixel 7a release date, price, feature and spec rumors

Google Pixel 7a rumors are circulating the internet, painting a picture of an alluring mid-ranger with key upgrades over the popular Pixel 6a.
The updates are rumored to include boosting the display frequency to 90Hz, which addresses one of the biggest complaints about its predecessor, as well as an upgraded Tensor processor. Also, as images of the real world are popping up on the internet, we may see this much sooner than expected.
Here’s everything there is to know about the Google Pixel 7a right now, from release date rumors to pricing speculation and of course the latest leaks.
When will the Google Pixel 7a be released?
While some smartphone makers (we’re looking at you, Apple) tend to stick to the same yearly release schedule, the same cannot be said for Google and its Pixel “a” line.
While the Pixel 6a was announced in May 2022 with a possible release in August, the Pixel 5a and Pixel 4a were released in July in their respective years – albeit with the caveat that the Pixel 4a was supposedly originally scheduled to be released in May 2020, but, you know , Covid put an end to this idea.
With that in mind, it’s possible that, as with the 2022 Pixel 6a, we could see the Pixel 7a announced as early as May 2023 – likely at Google I/O 2023 – with a release following somewhere. then in the summer, probably in July or August. .
Whenever a phone is set to officially open, we now know that anything approaching from Google through an FCC (Federal Communications Commission) listing, which usually happens within a few months of the expected announcement. Of course, the listing doesn’t specifically mention 7a, but the attached serial numbers are similar to leaked numbers that have appeared elsewhere on the Internet.

How much will the Google Pixel 7a cost?
Since the Pixel 7a hasn’t been officially revealed by Google yet, it’s no wonder we don’t have official mid-range pricing yet – and there aren’t many rumors either.
However, we can look back at previous releases for a good idea of what to expect, and that’s mostly good news for Pixel fans. As with the mainstream Pixel 7 line, which costs the same as the Pixel 6, Google is keen to stick to its price points.
With that in mind, we expect the Google Pixel 7a to cost roughly the same £399 / $449 as the Pixel 6a, though we power see slight price increases in some regions to reflect the broader market.
Latest Google Pixel 7a Rumors
Design
As is the case with most of the other smartphones in Google’s collection, the Pixel 7a has been the subject of several major leaks over the past few months that essentially give us pretty much everything we need to know about the design.
It started with the appearance of renders through a reliable source of information. @OnLeaks And @SmartPrixshowing what it looks like a lot of like the Pixel 7 and thus the Pixel 6a. The renders weren’t just with images: an insider listed estimated dimensions of 152.4 x 72.9 x 9mm, growing to 10.1mm due to an exaggerated camera bump.

Since this initial reveal, several how-to videos have surfaced online purporting to show off the phone in all its glory. More recently, actual images of the Pixel 7a have surfaced on Twitter along with a few key specs – but more on that in a moment.
While this should normally be taken with a grain of salt, the images look very similar to the render posted by @OnLeaks a few months ago, so there may be some truth to the leaked images.
A separate rumors that the Pixel 7a will be available in a new “Artic Blue” color scheme, which would be a big step up from the current shades of green and orange. This isn’t the first blue Pixel, although the appearance of such a finish in the history of the Pixel line has been sporadically.
display
As mentioned, @Gadgetsdata tweeted not only actual images of the upcoming Medium Ranger, but a few specs as well.
This includes the main display specs, stating that the upcoming Pixel 7a will feature a 6.1-inch OLED panel with FHD+ resolution and, most notably, a 90Hz refresh rate. Considering the Google Pixel 6a’s 60Hz panel is one of its biggest drawbacks compared to the competition, this sounds like a welcome upgrade.
Otherwise, it all sounds nice for the money considering it’s the same size and resolution as the previous Pixel 6a and the fact that we’re not expecting a big redesign this time around.
Processor and Specifications
The same insider also shared information about a possible processor, and it is speculated that Google will use the second generation Tensor G2 chipset found in the main Google Pixel 7 lineup.
It’s a smart move for Google that’s different from most mid-range competitors, especially when most of them use decidedly mid-range chipsets that can’t provide a flagship experience. The fact that Tensor G2 is a flagship chip will be a huge advantage for the mid-range.
This is presumably due to the faster LPDDR5 RAM, although the exact amount has yet to be confirmed, and the insider also claims that the phone will use older UFS 3.1 memory instead of the newer 4.0.
Wireless charging enthusiasts will also be pleased with the support for wireless charging, although only 5W, which isn’t particularly fast.
