Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 6 Get January 2023 Google Play System Update: How to Download

Google is finally releasing the latest Google Play system update for some Pixel phones after a two-month wait. The phones that received the latest update are the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, as well as the Pixel 6 series, which includes the Pixel 6a. These Pixel phones previously received the Google Play System update last November, and the tech giant skipped the update for December. Eligible Pixel phone owners can download the update now by going to the Settings app on their smartphones.

According to 9to5Google report, the Google Play system update for the Pixel 7 Pro is 63MB, while the latest update for the Pixel 6 series, including the Pixel 6a, is 58MB. Gadgets 360 has confirmed the availability of an update for the Pixel 7.

To download the January 2023 Google Play System Update, go to the Settings app on your Pixel phone and tap ​Security and privacy. Then click on Google Play System and you will see the update along with the download size. You will need to restart your device, so save your work and then download and install the update. Notably, according to Google, the latest update to the Google Play system brings improved device stability.

Meanwhile, Google recently started testing Android 13 QPR2 on eligible Pixel phones, including the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, 6a, Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, and Pixel 4a. The update was only released to select users who signed up for the beta program. The new update will bring bug fixes, new emoji, a new way to record your screen content, as well as a temporary taskbar, Unicode 15 emoji, and more.

According to the report, the update will also include a new Google Home icon for device controls. Android 13 QPR2 builds on the updates Google introduced with the release of Android 13 QPR1, which was released a few weeks after the initial release of Android 13 last year.
