Google Pixel 5a 5G with Snapdragon 765G SoC, 4680mAh battery, IP67 build launched: price, specifications

The Google Pixel 5a 5G was launched discreetly and it has the same design as the Pixel 4a 5G from last September. In fact, not only the design, but most of the technical specifications have remained the same. Google has made only a few changes to the new phone, making it a bit cheaper. The Pixel 5a 5G comes with a slightly larger display, has a dust and water resistance rating, and a much larger battery compared to the Pixel 4a 5G. While the Pixel 5a comes with a charger, Google has reportedly confirmed that the Pixel 6 series won’t come with a charger in the box.

Google Pixel 5a 5G price, availability

The Google Pixel 5a 5G is priced at $ 449 (roughly Rs 33,400) for the only 6GB RAM + 128GB storage model that comes in a single color called Mostly Black. Available for pre-order at US and Japan, the only two countries where it will be sold. The phone will go on sale from August 26th.

By comparison, the Pixel 4a 5G costs $ 499 (roughly Rs 37,100), which makes the newer improved model $ 50 (roughly Rs 3,700) cheaper. The Pixel 4a 5G hasn’t made it to the Indian market either.

Google Pixel 5a 5G specifications

The Pixel 5a 5G runs Android 11 and features a 6.34-inch Full-HD + (1080 x 2400 pixels) OLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate, 20: 9 aspect ratio, 413ppi pixel density, and HDR support. The display is slightly larger than the Pixel 4a 5G’s 6.2-inch display. The new phone runs on the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC paired with an Adreno 620 GPU. For photos and videos, the Pixel 5a 5G has virtually the same dual rear camera setup as the Pixel 4a 5G, with a 12.2MP main sensor with an f / 1.7 lens and a 16MP sensor with f / 2.2 ultra. – wide-angle lens. The difference is that the ultra-wide shooter on the Pixel 5a has a slightly wider field of view (FoV) of 118.7 degrees compared to 117 degrees on the Pixel 4a 5G. Another difference is that laser autofocus has been removed from the Google Pixel 5a 5G. On the front is the same 8MP f / 2.0 aperture selfie shooter housed in a hole punch notch located in the upper left corner of the display.

Connectivity options on the Pixel 5a 5G include dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.0, NFC, GPS, 3.5mm headphone jack and USB Type-C port. Sensors on board include a proximity sensor, an ambient light sensor, an accelerometer, a gyrometer, a magnetometer, and a barometer. There is also a fingerprint scanner on the back. The phone has a 4,680mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging. The battery is larger than the Pixel 4a 5G with a capacity of 3885mAh. The Pixel 5a 5G also has an IP67 water and dust resistance rating. The dimensions of the phone are 154.9×73.7×7.6 mm and the weight is 183 grams.

Earlier this month, Google officially unveiled the Pixel 6 series, showcasing the design and some specs. Now report The Verge, citing Google, says the Pixel 6 series won’t ship with a charger in the box. Google reportedly said the Pixel 5a 5G would be the last phone with a charger, stating that most people already have a USB-C charger.
