Google launches transition to Android app support for phones running Android 12

Google has announced the release of Switch to Android apps for all Android 12 smartphones. Previously, the app was only available for Google Pixel smartphones. Google previously released an app for iOS smartphones through the Apple App Store. The application will help Apple iPhone users easily switch to Android smartphones running Android 12. It will provide the convenience of wirelessly transferring videos, pictures and contacts from iPhone to Android smartphones. The Google Switch to Android app also allows users to turn off iMessage to receive text messages on Android.

In his blog, the Internet giant Google announced that, starting Wednesday, the Switch to Android app began rolling out to all smartphones running Android 12. Previously, the app was limited to Google Pixel smartphones only. The app will allow iPhone users to easily switch to any Android 12 smartphone. It will allow users to wirelessly transfer data such as videos, pictures, documents, contacts, and other data from their iPhones to new Android smartphones.

A new update to the Switch to Android app will allow users to also connect a cable to transfer videos and images stored in iCloud from iPhone to Android smartphones. Users will now be able to transfer DRM-free music, non-iTunes music, call logs, alarms, phone settings, audio, wallpapers, and free apps from iOS to Android using the app.

Google also highlighted 10 reasons why users are switching to Android from iOS. Some of the reasons cited by the internet giant include the ease of video calling if the user’s family and friends are on Google, the direct transfer of the user’s previous music purchases from iOS to Android, and Google’s proactive data protection.

Google, owned by Alphabet, announced in April that it had begun rolling out the app to iOS users through the Apple App Store. It is available on the App Store in multiple languages, including English, Arabic, Dutch, German, Hindi, Spanish, and more. It also allows users to disable iMessage in order to receive text messages on their Android smartphones.

Apple also offers a similar app called Move to iOS that helps Android smartphone users easily migrate to the Apple iPhone. The app allows users to transfer contacts, message history, camera pictures and videos, web bookmarks, email accounts, and calendars.
