But John Lewis has two color options (black or red) for just a few pounds more at £124.50.

While the machine has an RRP of £249.99, it is widely available at the time of writing for £199.99, making the savings more like 38% or £75.49, which is still very good.

If it’s sold to John Lewis or B&Q, you could get a similar deal from Lavazza. The savings aren’t as good as the ones we’ve found, but the red model is available in the Valentine’s Day promotion for £149 – still £50 off its best regular price and £100 off the suggested retail price.

At least if you are in the UK. This machine is not sold in the US, where only two pod coffee machines are available from Lavazza: Classy Mini and Classy Plus.

Lavazza A Modo Mio Smeg is a pod coffee machine that, as the name suggests, is compatible with Lavazza a Modo Mio pods, espresso pods of various strengths and flavors, including long coffee. In our opinion, these are one of the best espresso capsules.

Another point in their favor is that A Modo Mio capsules are commercially compostable, which means they don’t need to be bagged for recycling. They may just go with your food scraps for advice. However, they cannot be composted at home.

The machine itself is easy to use and, like all Lavazza capsule coffee makers, allows for some personalization. In this case, you can choose a standard or long espresso. You will have to prepare the milk separately, but you can buy a milk frother from Lavazza.

Lavazza A Modo Mio Smeg is quite compact: 15.7 x 29 x 36.6 cm and has a 0.9 liter water tank. It automatically ejects used pods and has space inside to store six used pods before it needs to be emptied. The cup shelf/drip tray is also adjustable.
