First images of Microsoft Surface Duo 2 hint at massive camera acceleration

Microsoft is rumored to be releasing a second-generation Surface Duo 2 dual-screen phone, and now we may have seen a foldable Android device for the first time.

Images have emerged of what may be close to the final prototype of the device, showing a hinge design similar to its predecessor, but with an angled camera bump with three sensors.

Images published Windows Central on Monday will show what counts as ultra wide-angle, telephoto and standard lenses as part of the array.

The renders show that this time we can get a black and white version of the device, while other aesthetic changes can see the frosted glass body. Judging from the images, USB-C has shifted a bit and the fingerprint sensor can now be integrated into the power button.

According to the report, Microsoft plans to give the sequel device much-needed hardware acceleration. The modest specs of the original were off-putting, despite the form factor improvements. I hope the price tag will be a little more modest this time too.

According to the report, this time it will pack a Snapdragon 888 chip, 5G connectivity, as well as NFC for mobile payments and the like. A report from Windows Central says Microsoft plans to release the device in September or October this year.

In this case, we expect the device to arrive with Android 11, with a swift transition to Android 12. Hopefully Microsoft has plans for wider off-the-job rollouts as the first device took months to months to get to the UK. and had lost most of the steam by the time it finally became available.
