First generation iPhone sells at auction for a lot more than the latest iPhone 14 Pro

The Apple iPhone is more expensive than many Android phones. It has set the benchmark for premium phones over the years by demanding a higher price for its features. Continuing the trend, the latest iPhone 14 was released last month to attract customers with some unique features. But on Sunday, someone shelled out $39,339.60 for a pristine, unpackaged original 2007 iPhone. It broke the notion that the latest iPhones were expensive. The first generation iPhone was released by Apple co-founder Steve Jobs in 2007.
Auction held Auctions where the gadget was sold for more than 65 times its original price of $599.
According to a report published in CNET.
“One of the most important and widespread inventions of our lives,” the item’s description on the LCG Auctions website reads. “This factory sealed copy of the first issue is in exceptional condition…Collectors and investors will be hard-pressed to find a superb quality copy.”
Bidding began at $2,500 and ran from September 30 to October 16.
The original iPhone was released on June 27, 2007, and Jobs called it a combination of “iPod, phone, and internet communicator”. This has revolutionized the smartphone market and started a race to bring better gadgets to consumers.
The original iPhone had a 3.5-inch screen, a 2-megapixel camera, and a web browser.
Apple has released the latest iPhone in four flavors – iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro, and 14 Pro Max. Thanks to a stronger US dollar, the two more expensive variants of the new iPhones cost more than their predecessors in India. At launch, the iPhone 14 Pro was priced at Rs 1,29,900 for 128GB, Rs 1,39,900 for 256GB, Rs 1,59,900 for 512GB, and Rs 1,79,900 for the 1TB variant. The larger iPhone 14 Pro Max sold Rs 10,000 more at each tier, making prices Rs 1,39,900, Rs 1,49,900, Rs 1,69,900 and Rs 1,89,900 respectively.
