Expected Specifications, Price, Availability and More

OnePlus North has been a bombastic return to the mid-range market for OnePlus by mid-2020 and it didn’t take long for the company to expand on the original formula. Now, it seems, one of the first members of the 2021 Northern family is on the way, in the Northern CE 5G.

U original North it’s been a formidable mid-range offering from OnePlus, cementing itself as our own.Mid-range Phone of the Year‘by the end of 2020. The company has therefore proceeded to expand along the line to appeal to a wider range of consumers and enter new markets; with the most accessible North N10 5G and the budget North N100.

Tipster Max Jambor opened the can of worms on a potential follow-up in early February, when it offered a name for the next entry into the North family, with the OnePlus North “N1 5G”.

On the one hand, it was exciting to hear about a new Nord device so soon in 2021, on the other hand, the use of the ‘N1’ naming convention, coupled with the expected position of the phone when following the N10 has raised some questions about how easy consumers will find following the OnePlus brand strategy with the North name.

To add to the confusion, on May 16 – in contrast to its original leak – Jambor suggested that the original device marked as N1 5G could now be operated under the name “North CE 5G”.

Then, on May 27, in an interview with TechRadar, Pete Lau, CEO of OnePlus confirmed the existence and official name of Northern CE 5G, explaining that “CE” means “Core Edition”.

Expanding on what this new naming convention means, Lau said, “we’ve distilled the original North to its core elements, and added some extra features to create a great everyday phone at an even more affordable price.” .

We talk more about the latest developments on North CE in our weekly podcast, Fast Charge:

When will the OnePlus Nord CE 5G launch?

The original North made its debut on 21 July 2020 and became available for purchase in Europe on 4 August 2020, while the North N10 was not unveiled until the end of October 2020 and went on sale in Europe on 27 November 2020.

During his recent interview, Lau confirmed that Northern CE 5G will come to the Indian and European market, leaving June 10th. He also mentioned an exclusive US / Canada device, called “Nord N200 5G”, but is not expected to arrive until later.

OnePlus has then formally announced its next ‘Summer Launch Event‘, scheduled for June 10, departing at 3 hours BST / 4 hours CEST, but 30 minutes earlier in India, at 7 hours IST.

The event page on the OnePlus website also offers fans the opportunity to win a proprietary Nord CE 5G and was created to spoil various features of the device in the days leading up to the launch event, which began with the physical scheme of the device being unveiled on 31 May. Other functions will debut on June 2, June 4 and June 8.

OnePlus Nord CE 5G pre-order history

A look at the OnePlus India event page also provides a calendar for the presentation of CE 5G (next to the OnePlus TV U Series U1S version), citing pre-order availability for Red Cable Club members (a virtual membership club for OnePlus region fans that includes special offers and early access) from June 11th and general availability of the CE 5G from June 16th. It is unclear whether these dates apply to other markets at this stage.

How much will OnePlus Nord CE 5G cost?

The North N10 5G will hit the end of 2020 with an opening price of £ 329 in the UK and € 349 in Europe (and later $ 299.99 in the US). OnePlus has since dropped the price of the N10 in the UK and Europe, but if the North CE 5G is destined to be the direct successor to the N10, there is every possibility that it will cost the same.

However, if the CE is intended to slot in the middle the price points set by the original N10 and North (now more likely based on Lau’s words) – then the phone could drop between £ 339 and £ 369 (about $ 470 to $ 510).

What features will OnePlus Nord CE 5G have?

After the discovery of a new Nord device – codenamed “Ebba” – emerges for the first time, it was OnLeaks who suggested that it was a follow-up to the N10 North, rather than a successor to the original North. Not only that, but it has shared performance and some key specifications of the device via soy Voice page.

Escape OnePlus North Ebba

While Lau later confirmed the existence of Nord CE 5G, he did not provide hardware details regarding the phone, leaving the content of OnLeaks (and other tipsters) to fill in the gaps. However, he said the “OnePlus Nord CE 5G offers a fast and smooth experience and powerful core features all backed by quality OnePlus users who know and love it.”

“Making the OnePlus signing experience more accessible is a balancing act, but there are some classic flagship features we’ve brought to the OnePlus Nord series this year to ensure we deliver that fast and fluid experience with the Nord series.” , he added.

According to OnLeaks, the device has a 6.49-inch flat panel with a perforated camera on the front and a triple camera on the bottom. The phone is 8.4 mm thick and includes a 3.5 mm headphone jack. It will have a metal frame with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, but the back of the phone is “glossy plastic”.

‘Ebba’ – thought to be the North CE 5G – has been around ever since IMDA certification from India too much.

The name confirms that 5G is part of the equation, which may restrict potential chipsets it could exploit – probably from Qualcomm, OnePlus ’long-term chip maker of choice – though North 2 It will be changed to MediaTek’s Dimension 1200, so internals other than Snapdragon aren’t even completely out of demand on this device.

Android Central he subsequently intervened, citing “insider sources” who claim (contrary to OnLeaks) that the CE 5G will feature a 6.43-inch AMOLED display at 90Hz. A 64Mp main camera (with two additional sensors), with a 16Mp front panel are also said to feature, while the design of the phone follows in the footsteps of the OnePlus 9 Series.

Most interesting is that, on the subject of chipsets, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G is said to have; the same chip power devices as u Samsung Galaxy A52 5G to great effect.

As for everything else, beyond the company’s skin management on Android – Oxygen OS – there’s little else we can say for sure until more details emerge from the woodwork.
