The iPhone 13 was only released in September 2021, but we’re already seeing a slew of rumors teasing this year’s update for the iPhone 14 flagship phone.…
Apple introduced four phones last year: the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max. Phones have received 4.5 out of 5 stars across the board from us here at Reliable reviewsand Max Parker praises their excellent cameras and vastly improved battery life, not to mention the high-end Pro Max, which tops our list of the best smartphones.
So what has Apple in store for 2022? Scroll down to find all the latest iPhone 14 leaks, rumors and news.
There is no official release date for the iPhone 14 yet, which is not surprising given that the iPhone 13 was launched just a few months ago.
However, we expect the next iPhone to follow the same pattern as its predecessors and launch towards the end of 2022, most likely in September or October.
Apple usually unveils its flagship models in September, with the exception of the October iPhone 12 announcement, so a September launch seems most likely if you count the months until the next update.
As for the price, it is unfortunately rumored that the value of the flagship iPhone will rise in 2022.
The iPhone 13 lineup started at £ 679 / $ 699 for the Mini, £ 779 / $ 799 for the standard iPhone 13, £ 949 / $ 999 for the Pro, and £ 1,049 / $ 1099 for the Pro Max.
LeaksApplePro recently tweeted that iPhone 14 prices will start at $ 799 (about £ 779) for the base model and climb to $ 1,199 (about £ 1,149) for the 14 Pro Max. According to the whistleblower, this would mean an increase of $ 100 due to higher production costs.
Design and display
Little is known about the design of the iPhone 14 yet, but as always, rumor has it that Apple will do away with the notch at the top of the display.
According to @dylandkt on Twitter, the Pro model will swap out the notch for a pill-shaped front camera, similar to those found in some Android phones.
Tipster also explained that the sensors needed to enable Apple’s Face ID feature will move under the display in the 14 Pro. Apparently, this shouldn’t affect the functionality of Face ID in any way.
Of course, @dylandkt wasn’t the first to suggest that Apple will finally ditch the notch in 2022.
Bloomberg Mark Gourmet predicts we’ll see “an updated iPhone 14 lineup with a hole-punch-sized notch” in the fall, although that rumor doesn’t specify which models will receive the update, which means there may still be hope for an entry-level iPhone. 14.
Elec also revealed that we will see punch-hole cameras this year on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, although a Korean news site warns that the regular iPhone 14 will likely not give up on the notch this time around.
Rumor has it that the iPhone will be more durable this year. MacRumors reports that Apple will replace its conventional aluminum and stainless steel frame with a new titanium alloy chassis.
Last year, the iPhone 13 launched with dual 12MP cameras in the base and Mini models, and triple 12MP cameras in the Pro and Pro Max versions.
According to the report MacRumorsApple will add a new 48MP lens to the iPhone in 2022, although it’s unclear if the sensor will be limited to Pro models only.
Formerly Apple Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo hinted that the iPhone 14 Pro will support 48MP and 12MP output, which can be achieved through techniques such as pixel binning.
The Pro model can also shoot 8K video this year, an upgrade over 4K video recording on the current iPhone 13 Pro, which Samsung’s Galaxy S series is already capable of.
However, MacRumors cautions that you shouldn’t rely on a periscope lens, which can dramatically improve optical zoom if the brand decides to introduce one. Instead, you may have to wait until the iPhone 15 launches next year to get your hands on an iPhone with a periscope camera.
Characteristics and features
The iPhone 13 series is powered by Apple’s latest A15 Bionic processor, so we naturally expect the iPhone 14 to be powered by the A16 Bionic processor.
According to the report GSMArenaThe iPhone 14 can go even further than the iPhone 13 Pro when it comes to storage options. Rumors have it that the phone will come with a whopping 2TB of storage – double that of the highest-end iPhone 13 Pro – and it’s unclear at this time if the 2TB configuration will only be available for the Pro models.
Regardless, base models are expected to see an increase in storage capacity as well, with the iPhone 14 and 14 Mini increasing the limit from 512GB to 1TB, the amount currently reserved for the Pro.
We don’t know much about the iPhone 14 battery yet, but the iPhone 13 series certainly impressed us with its extended battery life.
Rumor has it that Apple will finally ditch the Lightning cable and use USB-C charging, as it did with the 2021 iPad Mini 6 and iPad Pro 12.9, but we’ll have to wait and see if Apple finally makes the change.
