Surface Duo 2 is Microsoft’s second-generation foldable phone with two screens. And it won’t start Windows! This is an Android device, however, without Android 12 out of the box.
However, the big changes here are in the hardware. The Duo 2 uses the flagship 2021 chipset in the Snapdragon 888, bringing 5G and NFC to the device along with it. Both AMOLED displays are slightly larger and are now 90Hz, and there is also an all-new triple rear camera system.
Elsewhere, you get a much larger 4449mAh battery (up from 3577mAh in the original) and a new “gaze bar” that lets you check notifications without opening the device. An obsidian variant (black) has now been added to the existing glacier model (white).
Here’s everything you need to know about buying a Surface Duo 2 in the UK and US, whether you’re looking for a SIM-free or on-contract model.
