Apple will limit the use of the Periscope camera to one iPhone 16 series Model: Ming-Chi Kuo

Apple is expected to introduce the iPhone 15 series later this year, replacing the iPhone 14 line that debuted last September. While the company hasn’t announced any details about the alleged phones, the top-of-the-line iPhone 15 Pro Max/Ultra variant is expected to come with a 10x optical zoom periscope camera. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes this trend will continue into 2024, when the Cupertino-based company is expected to introduce the iPhone 16 line. Kuo argues that the Cupertino-based company may take this step to increase sales of the top model. Recent reports have suggested that Apple may equip two of its top models of future iPhone lines with a periscope lens.
Kuo is mentioned in series of tweets that only one model of the iPhone 16 series will be equipped with a periscope lens. This model is expected to be the iPhone 16 Pro Max/Ultra. Apple may try to increase demand for a high-end model. The Cupertino-based company is expected to use the same strategy with its iPhone lineup, which will likely launch later this year.

But my latest survey shows that only one new top-of-the-line iPhone 16 model in 2H24 will have a periscope camera, not the two models expected by the market. Thus, the contribution of the periscope camera to the demand for lens upgrades may be below market consensus.— 郭明錤 (Ming-Chi Kuo) (@mingchikuo) January 31, 2023
It was previously speculated that both iPhone 16 Pro models could have a periscope camera. However, Kuo believes demand for lens upgrades may be lower than previously thought. Therefore, it may not be profitable for Apple to offer a periscope camera on more than one model.
The release of the iPhone 16 series may take place in a couple of years, but there are a lot of rumors around the iPhone 15 line. According to a recent report, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus could have a 48MP ultrawide sensor. It is also believed that the Pro models may come with Wi-Fi 6E wireless connectivity.
It has been reported in the past that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max/Ultra may have an 8P lens on the main camera. In addition, it is believed that its periscope camera can provide up to 10x optical zoom.
