The U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear arguments in a lawsuit challenging Maine’s mandate to vaccinate healthcare workers against COVID-19.
The judges did not explain their decision in court documents on Tuesday. The Court has already rejected two emergency declarations that attempted to prevent the mandate from coming into effect.

The Maine vaccination requirement went into effect in October. The unnamed workers have sued the state to try to demand religious exemptions from the vaccine law.
Proponents of the rule point out that Maine has for decades required health facilities to ensure that workers are vaccinated against other diseases.
