Sister Carol Keehan, Dr. Philip Lee and Dr. Herbert Pardes Honored

Congratulations to Sister Carol Keehan, Dr. Herbert Pardes, and the family of the late Dr. Philip Lee on their induction into the Healthcare Hall of Fame.
Keehan led the US Catholic Health Association, which represents more than 600 member hospitals and 1,600 other medical institutions, as president and CEO from 2005 to 2019. She actively advocated for a more equitable healthcare system, including by advocating for the passage of the Affordable Care Act during the Obama administration.
Pardes was President and CEO of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital from 2000 to 2011, and previously served as Dean of the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and Director of the National Institute of Mental Health. Pardes, a psychiatrist, has been a vocal advocate for mental health and academic medicine. He remains Executive Vice Chairman of the NewYork-Presbyterian Board of Trustees.
Lee has held numerous prominent positions in government, politics, advocacy, and academia. As Assistant Secretary of Health and Science at the Johnson Administration’s Department of Health, Education and Human Services, Lee oversaw the implementation of the 1965 law that created Medicare. He died in 2020 at the age of 96.
