Northwell Health Fundraising Campaign Exceeds $1 Billion Target

Brian Lally, director of system development, said the additional $400 million in philanthropy will support health equity initiatives, employee wellness, a new outpatient facility on Manhattan’s East Side, and a 104-bed behavioral health facility for children in Glen Oaks Hospital campus.

The outpatient facility that will house the cancer center is unrelated to Northwell’s plan to expand Lenox Hill Hospital on the Upper East Side, which Lally said has been shelved but is still in development.

Capital projects that have been supported with the $1 billion raised to date include an advanced surgical pavilion at North Shore University Hospital and a women’s and newborn center at Staten Island University Hospital.

Endowment gifts have so far supported 13 professors and departments, as well as $8.9 million in full and partial scholarships for 204 Zucker School of Medicine students.

Northwell operates 21 hospitals and 850 outpatient facilities in the city, Westchester County and Long Island.
