Drama by Trisha Paytas with Ethan Klein Pod Forum

  • Tricia Patas has rallied against the “H3 Podcast” subreddit, which they say is stalking them.
  • The subreddit with over half a million subscribers sees Paytas posts frequently.
  • The subreddit appears to be mostly moderated by the H3 Podcast team.

Scandalous YouTuber Tricia Paitas and their fiancé Moses Hackmon are facing scandalous internet scandals as they each face their own scandals.

In a September 7 YouTube video, a user known as MYSTERIOUS accused Paitas of falsely stating that the previous teacher, who they said molested them, had been arrested and Hackmon was accused of “stealing” time of non-consensual intercourse) by women who say that they are his previous partners. Paitas has since stated that she was given false information, while Hackmon denied the allegations.

While Paitas was used to criticism, they said it was going too far now, claiming that the subreddit dedicated to Podcast H3 and its creators Ethan and Heela Klein, YouTubers, had launched a “hate campaign” against them.

Paitas said on Twitter on Monday that the harassment they face “it all starts” with a subreddit that “they control and monitor,” referring to the Kleins and their team.

The Kleins have not publicly talked about who is moderating the forum, but 3 former subreddit moderators with over half a million subscribers and over 145,000 comments told Insider that moderators not affiliated with H3 Podcast have been replaced by employees of the podcast company.

Patas and Ethan co-hosted an H3 Podcast spin-off called Frenemies until they had a falling out in June. In the January 19 episode, Paitas brought charges against her previous teacher. Klein removed the episode from the list (made it inaccessible for search) after it became known that public records appear to indicate no arrest.

Here’s what you need to know about the “H3” subreddit and Paytas’ statements about the community.

The H3H3Productions subreddit is an integral part of the channel’s brand.

H3H3Productions, run by Hila and Ethan Klein, is a popular YouTube channel with 6.36 million subscribers that has been creating commentary videos since 2011 but has been dormant for one year as the Kleins focus on their podcast channel.

The H3H3Productions subreddit chronicled the Kleins’ drama, their YouTube channel H3H3Productions, and the H3 Podcast they co-host. This has been a cornerstone of the Kleins brand ever since they created the page in 2014, and the couple frequently reviewed subreddit content during their weekly podcast broadcasts.

Now, the subreddit, which was created for fans to discuss Klein content on YouTube, is mostly home to discussions about Paitas’ drama with the Kleins.

In accordance with subredditstats, a site that collects data on the subreddit, “Tricia” is the second most popular keyword on the subreddit, after “sworn enemies”, and there are dozens of posts about her on the subreddit. Paytas call messages “spineless” “evil,” and “crazy” sit among others and ask to talk about she be completely banned on subreddit.

Since 2019, Ethan has posted to the subreddit three times, while Gila has only posted one time. Although their engagement has slowed, subreddit remains more popular than ever.

The subreddit expanded alongside the YouTube channel.

The subreddit spent the first few years in relative obscurity, growing with the channel. In early 2015, the channel had around 115,000 YouTube subscribers, according to track analytics which tracks social media stats, and the subreddit had about 350 followers, according to subredditstats. By the end of that year, they had over 600,000 subscribers on YouTube and about 30,000 on their subreddit.

At the time, Ethan was regularly posting to the subreddit, responding to fans in the comments and posting videos he had uploaded.

Over the next few years, the popularity of both the channel and the subreddit will skyrocket – by 2018, YouTube had five million subscribers, and Reddit had 400 thousand. The Kleins have become less likely to respond to comments, mostly creating posts for questions to ask guests on their h3 podcast.

Some subreddit moderators work for the Kleins.

Reddit has strict moderator’s guide which require a “stable and active team of moderators” on every page of the subreddit. The company also has content policy which prohibits “incitement to persecution”.

The moderator’s job is to remove messages that are spam or mess, block users who do not follow the rules of the subreddit, and communicate with the community to ensure a healthy conversation.

Moderating a subreddit with half a million subscribers can be an ongoing job in itself. Some users even asked more moderation remove duplicate and low-quality posts.

The H3H3Productions subreddit currently has eight moderators, two of which are inactive accounts, in addition to two bots looking at the hundreds of posts posted every day. The other six moderators are listed on the subreddit sidebar: Ethan, Hila, producer Dan Swerdlow, sound engineer Zach Louis, researcher AB Ayad, and editor Ian Slater.

In February 2018, the main subreddit moderator disappeared after allegations arose that they were requesting nude images in exchange for roles on the subreddit, according to former subreddit moderators interviewed by Insider for this article. The links in the accusatory messages are currently dead. This user has not posted to his account for three years, but is still listed as a subreddit moderator.

Former subreddit moderators have stated that Kleins’ team has been moderating the page for years.

The size of the subreddit and problems with volunteer moderators began to pile up in 2018.

Joe Hullihan, aka Reddit u / GurlinPanteez, told Insider that he moderated the subreddit from early 2018 to early 2019 until he received a message on Reddit that his role was removed.

Swerdlove, the producer of the H3 Podcast, told Hullihan in a Reddit post reviewed by Insider that another moderator, JrdnRgrs, “unblocked everyone, deleted a bunch of posts, and posted a bunch of trolling topics.” Swerdlov said the team removed any moderators they “don’t know in real life in order to gain control of the situation,” as purported posts indicate.

JrdnRgrs, who requested not to disclose his real name for privacy reasons, told Insider that his Reddit account was “hacked” while he was on vacation, which caused him to lose his moderator seat. He reiterated Hullihan’s claim that all moderators who did not work on the podcast had been removed.

JrdnRgrs said he thought the podcast team “didn’t have time to moderate” the subreddit, “which is understandable, but they shouldn’t have taken full responsibility if they did.”

Another former moderator who worked on the subreddit until 2017, u / isonotlikethat, also said that he believes the subreddit has been moderated by the H3 team since then.

The 2 former moderators also stated that they did not communicate with Ethan or Hila during their tenure.

Hullihan did receive a message from Ethan that Insider saw five months before he was deleted, in which he thanked him for moderating the subreddit and said he “appreciates it.”

The Kleins and the rest of the current moderators did not respond to requests for comment.
