Digital Pharmacy Capsule Reports Hack Affecting 27,000 Users

On Friday, Capsule reported the data breach to the Office of Civil Rights of the Department of Health and Human Services, according to its website. Federal law requires an agency secretary to report breaches of unprotected protected health information that affects 500 or more people.

The company did not respond to questions about when the breach occurred and what personal information was potentially compromised.

Capsule has raised at least $570 million since its founding in 2015. The startup reached unicorn status in 2021 after closing a Series D round that its CEO said valued the company at more than $1 billion.
