A government website where people can request free home COVID-19 tests from the US government is currently accepting the third round of orders.
The White House announced on Tuesday that US households can request an additional eight free home tests to be sent by the US Postal Service.
The announcement comes as the number of coronavirus infections is rising again in parts of the country.
In January, President Joe Biden pledged to make 1 billion free tests available to the public, including 500 million online. covidtests.gov. But only 350 million of the amount available for online ordering has been shipped to date to addresses in the continental United States, its territories and foreign military bases, the White House said.

In the third round, the total number of free tests available to every household in the US since the program launched earlier this year has reached 16. Households were eligible to take four tests during each of the previous two rounds of ordering through the website.
Biden has asked Congress for an additional $22 billion to buy vaccines and therapeutics to prepare for the fall surge in COVID-19 cases, but lawmakers have not agreed to the price.
