Zelda: Skyward Sword On Switch Has Already Reached Wii Lifetime Sales

It looks like Nintendo has decided to remaster and port the 2011 Wii version. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD to Switch paid off well and truly.

The company’s latest financial statement indicates that the Nintendo Switch version of the game has already sold 3.60 million units as of September 30, 2021. As highlighted by many other sources, this means it already matches the lifetime sales of the original Wii game (roughly 3.67 million, according to industry analyst Daniel Ahmad) in just 77 days.

Nintendo has enjoyed immense success with a number of re-releases over the Switch generation, and is clearly the best-selling game ever. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – which has now sold 38.74 million units, is based on the name from the Wii U generation. It has also officially surpassed the Wii in sales. While Skyward Sword was a success on Switch, it’s no surprise it’s still a long way off. Breath of the wildwhich now has 24 million worldwide sales.
