Wolfenstein-inspired ‘Rise Of The Triad: Ludicrous Edition’ Looks… Well, Ridiculous

In collaboration with developer and publisher Apogee Entertainment, New Blood Entertainment and Nightdive Studios, the classic 1995 first-person shooter was released. Triad uprising is getting a re-release on Switch with many new features and improvements.

Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition is billed as the definitive version of the iconic FPS game and is currently set to launch “early 2023” on the Nintendo Switch. It boasts visual and performance improvements, as well as an updated HUD and user interface, an all-new level editor, and multiple soundtracks.

Scott Miller, founder of Apogee Entertainment, commented positively on the announcement:

“Since its fateful beginning as a continuation in Wolfenstein 3D franchise, Triad uprising still retains many of the wolf ideas such as the art style and run and gun gameplay. It’s kind of a miracle when an Apogee game, created in the mid-90s, finds new life in a generation at its best. Nightdive used Excalibat to knock it out of the park!

In addition to the digital launch, Nightdive Studios will also partner with Limited Run Games to launch the physical version of Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition, with both standard and collector’s editions in development for multiple platforms. More details on this will be revealed soon.
