Karakuri is an ancient technology common in the lands of Azuma, and you have the ability to use it. Karakuri can be used to build structures, coordinate attacks against vicious prey, and unlock additional skills and tools to help you defeat the most powerful beasts. It will often appear on your journey as a glowing green substance detected by your Hunter’s Vision. You will need to stop and collect resources in order to keep creating items that will help you destroy the Kemono, the monsters that have infested the land. This ancient power is also transmitted through your AI companion, who can assist you in combat and collect karakuri threads from your surroundings.
You can’t take part in treacherous battles without understanding the basics, which is why we’ve put together a guide to help you get started on the hunt.
Journey through the wilds with karakuri
Azuma is a vast, terrifying landscape, and the kemono lurking within it travel great distances. To make your hunt easier, basic karakuri can be used to create items for movement, such as crates that can climb higher points, and springs that can be used to jump over broken bridges and cavernous chasms.
As you progress, Karakuri will unlock different ways to navigate and explore the world. Karakuri’s abilities give you the ability to create hunting towers that detect when a Kemono is hiding in close proximity. The Flying Vine is a contraption that creates a zipline, allowing you to soar long distances on a zipline perfect for climbing a cliff or crossing a river.
Later, use the Karakuri skill tree to use even more useful upgrades such as the Wind Whirl to soar high in the sky, the Glider which can be used to gain an advantage over an area, or the Launcher which can shoot smaller Karakuri objects (our selves) into the distance .
Powering up your camp
Karakuri can be used in Azuma’s wild to create camps. When you discover the Dragon Pit, you can wake it up and turn the area into a camp. These places serve as permanent rest points in the open world to prepare for the next battle, and a convenient fast travel point if you need to return another time.
Here Karakuri can be used to extract several useful resources. A hunting tent allows you to get the rest you need before or after a fight, and a campfire will help you plan your next hunt and wait for other adventurers to join you if needed.
Whether you’re in need of a brand new weapon or armor upgrade, you can build a Field Forge and craft everything you need for the upcoming battle right away, as long as you have the right materials, whether it’s poison-resistant gauntlets or a giant hammer. The Drying Cabinet can be used for food, and the Chest of Ingredients will allow you to store resources gathered along the way.
We take Karakuri to battle
Your Karakuri powers can also be used to take advantage of Azuma’s colossal Kemono. Quickly connect six crates together to form a Bastion that can serve as a wall between you and your opponent, or stun an attacking Kemono from its attack, leaving them open to damage.
Use Fusion Karakuri to awaken Pounder, a powerful hammer that can deal a punitive blow to any Kemono and destroy any aggressive objects it can create while attacking. Fusion Karakuri can also unlock the Elemental Lantern, a device that can protect you from the effects of any lethal elemental blows your opponent might strike with.
Your Flying Vine can also be used offensively with the Impaler upgrade; instead of racing towards solid ground, fire the device directly at the kemonos to injure them as you approach. All of your basic karakuri can also be created in combat, so be sure to make the most of the mysterious technology in every scenario. Over time, all of your Karakuri resources can be upgraded to take on the larger, stronger, and more useful Kemono located throughout Azuma.
