Well, this week has definitely been a bit more intense for us at Nintendo Life! Looking at game announcements, we’re set to get Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards as part of the Switch Online Expansion Pass, plus Alan Wake has been confirmed to be coming to Switch later this year. Finally, of course, we had a brand new Indie World showcase, bursting at the seams with lots of cool little online store gems.
In other news, our very own NL community member Zuljaras created a wonderful DOOM sculpt, we took a look at nascent storytelling in Minecraft, and there was some weird drama involving the character Fei Long in Street Fighter! And last but not least, we saw the release of Nintendo’s financial results for fiscal year 2022, asking the question of when we will actually see the Switch 2 arrive.
Now it’s time to relax and discuss our game plans for the weekend. several metersmembers of the Nintendo Life team have done just that below, so feel free to read our entries and then join in with your own through our comment section. Enjoy!

This weekend you will find a double portion of new short role-playing games, both of which are completely different genres! I’ll dive into Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising in Metroidvania-esque style, which looks like a very neat primer before the main event – Eiyuden Chronicles: One Hundred Heroes – hits next year. I don’t mind the idea of repeatable quests right now; I just want a nice experience with low stakes.
Also under consideration is Jump Over The Age’s Citizen Sleeper, a game that’s been on my radar just a few weeks ago. i stumbled upon soundtrack, and the lo-fi synthwave beats were practically screaming (humming?) “Put the game up”! Our review helped too. More tabletop RPGs and much higher stakes, but just the same about people and communities. See you next week!

On the good old Switch, I guess I have to go eventually play Gris, who I’ve heard a lot about. I’ve also started a new game in Civilization VI in which I’m trying to bring Robert the Bruce’s Scotland into space; love realism!
In the other place I started a long overdue proper run Yakuza: Like a Dragonand the mission is not to fall halfway through the story this time or spend too much time on the go-kart mini-game.

So I’m still working on Bioshock Infinite this weekend because, uh… I didn’t play it last weekend when I promised. I’m sorry. However, this time I will try to make some decent progress on it, and hopefully polish it before next weekend.
Elsewhere I chose to pass Red Dead Redemption 2 again on PS5. I just love to just get lost in the world of this game, and enough time has passed that I’ve pretty much forgotten the narrative.

This weekend is my first free weekend since two weeks of COVID, followed by two weeks of family visit, so I’ll be playing… SLEEP. Just kidding, it’s video game time, baby. Earthbound is an obvious game because of the Backlog Club, but I haven’t stopped playing Slay The Spire yet! I’ve played 115 hours (I’ve played a lot in the last month) and only completed Heart (Defect x2) twice. I approached the Battleship, but forgot to take the last key. I’m still salty about it.
Otherwise, it will be a mix of watching my partner play. ancient ring, which is incredible, and try out Dead Cells, which I first bought on sale a couple of weeks ago. To be honest, I don’t know why I put it off – I love roguelikes – but it’s a bit difficult for me to figure it out, because I feel like I somehow missed the tutorial? I have no idea. Please leave hints, thanks.

I’m just going to get my Wii U things in order. Last night we finally got home internet!

I’m halfway in Division 1 Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe standings, and everything can go either way. I have some outstanding new players, including James, the best striker in the entire game, who can make a difference. Forward to the final trilogy in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga at least since The Force Awakens do this weekend. Good physical arrivals included Archvale and Deadly smiles 1+2.
Game of the week is cotton fantasy! While my physical edition is still somewhere in the future, ININ Games was kind enough to send me the code for review. What a fantastic reboot! I can no longer keep track of how many games Umihara Kawase plays with guest stars.
As always, thanks for reading! Don’t forget to leave us a comment below with your game plans for the weekend!
