We needed a quiet week here at Nintendo Life, and so it seemed until the release of the first wave of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass. If you are not a fan of Mario Kart Tour, then this DLC is for you! Also, you can check out what we think of wave 1. Persona 4 Arena Ultimax has also received a Switch port, and in our review, we say more Persona on Switch is a good thing!

To the news we received a surprise in the form of three new Sega Genesis games for the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pass. The final trailer of the series Sonic the Hedgehog 2 the movie is dropped, and the poster is a cheeky nod to the original game’s box art. We also found out Mario Strikers the series could have been a platformer, and now we know that Monster Hunter Rise: Sunny dawn coming out June 30

Now it’s time to relax and discuss our game plans for the weekend. several metersmembers of the Nintendo Life team have done just that below, so feel free to read our entries and then join in with your own through our comment section. Enjoy!

It’s time to download Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the first time this year! And, frankly, for the first time in a long time. I’m worried that I’m a bit rusty, especially since I’ve challenged my partner to a few games. The last time we played each other in a competition, he beat me really well. He will be happy if I admit it. However, he will be less than happy to read this after I destroy him on the new Booster Course Pass tracks.

I also think I’m going to demo Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Confession: I’ve never completed a Kirby game other than Kirby’s Dream Course. I love the little guy, I just never made a conscious effort to go all the way. Maybe it’s time to change that this year.

What would you all suggest for my first Kirby game other than Forgotten Land?

I’m playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe this weekend – surprise! Yes, I will jump into the new Booster Course and live it in Choco Mountain. I like the “new” tracks so far and it also inspired me to go back and work on the original Grand Prix cups. In other words, I’ll be knee-deep in Mario Kart for days!

I don’t have much on the go at the moment. I’m still diving into Resident Evil to try and improve my speedplay skills a bit, and I’ve tried a few games on the Sega Mega Drive – Nintendo Switch Online service; I’ll try a few games I’ve never played before, but for some reason I always come back to Sonic the Hedgehog 2…

I will definitely enjoy the Mario Kart 8 Booster Pass more while trying to get 3 stars; this is much easier said than done in 200cc! Also, I will definitely be playing even more Triangle Strategy, which I have adored so far. It’s a real gem, so anyone who loves tactical games should at least try the prologue demo.

In the other place I’m still very early ancient ringso I will try (and probably fail) to make significant progress!

A nice package from a neighboring country delivered three physical versions of the games I’ve always wanted to try, namely Maglam Lord, Death’s Gambit: Afterlife, and (finally) Disco Elysium: The Final Cut. Chapter XII will be next in The Strategy of the Triangle, so my weekend is sorted.

Game of the Week would again be F-Zero X if not for my terrible inability to play it properly with a Pro Controller. This time, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe takes pole position, and the new tracks are the perfect excuse to return to the blue hell.

Don’t tell my partner, but I’ve been in a serious relationship with Pokemon Legends: Arceus for the past two months and I think it’s time to finally break it off. I’m nearing the official end, only a few mon left to add to my dex, and I’m just not sure I have the strength left to finish things. If I moved a little better, I might still enjoy my time, but I feel a bit exhausted, especially since the last few I have to catch are either locked behind a wall of save data or have somewhat rough and tumble requirements. . Maybe I’ll come back to this again if a new event or some interesting DLC appears in the game, but for now I think I’ll put it off until later.

That being said, I’m flying to GDC next week to hang out with the devs and play indie, and I think I’d like to start something new during the round trip! Maybe something supposedly short and cute, like Later Alligator or Octodad? The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles has been on my list since it came out last summer, but I’m not sure I’m ready to dedicate myself to another 50 hour dialogue adventure. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is another game I would like to remove from my shameful list! Oh, and Triangle Strategy is basically begging me for its attention, and I’d really like to fall face down into the world of HD-2D, but the commitment is another big one! Any recommendations?

As always, thanks for reading! Don’t forget to leave us a comment below with your game plans for the weekend!
