What are you playing this weekend? (7 May)

If you’ve noticed that things have been a little quieter this week, it’s because Japan has Golden Week, a series of four national holidays when many companies provide a day off. For others, Star Wars Day was May 4th (okay, okay, May 4th), and that counts as a holiday too, depending on who you’re talking about! And tomorrow is Mother’s Day in the US, so Happy Mother’s Day to those who celebrate it!
In terms of news, there has been a lot of talk about Reggie since the release of his book, Game violation. In addition, we finally got a new trailer for Mario Strikers: Battle League. There is also a funny little easter egg in the credits of Nintendo Switch Sports. And we got a sneak peek of the upcoming Netflix Sonic series. Sonic Prime.
Now it’s time to relax and discuss our game plans for the weekend. several metersmembers of the Nintendo Life team have done just that below, so feel free to read our entries and then join in with your own through our comment section. Enjoy!

Readers, I relented and bought a couple of games at the Spring in Action sale. Incredibly, I didn’t have Gris yet, so this was my first purchase. Another game I bought (ha!) is Umurangi Generation Special Edition – something I’ve had my eye on since it launched on Steam. One is a beautiful touch platformer about depression and heartbreak, while the other is an urban apocalyptic take on Pokémon Snap with poignant social commentary. I’m excited to finally dig into both of them.
I will also continue to play with Klonoa: Empire of Dreams, which I like even more for the second time. This week I was either busy or all over the place, so video games weren’t part of my routine. Instead I just watched a lot Metroid video. Sometimes I need a good video essay or three. Have a great weekend, folks!

I’ve been zapping aimlessly between Switch games, so it’s time to focus! I think I’ll be working on Two Point Hospital: Jumbo Edition, which I recently got on sale, as well as making a concerted effort to stick with Disco Elysium: The Final Cut. Very different games…
In the other place I will most likely miss Forza Horizon 5LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and Max Paynedepending on what random mood I’m in at the moment.

hellooooo [waves]. This weekend I want to learn a little more about the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection; I’ve stuck with characters that I know I’m quite competent with, so I’d like to expand a bit and try someone new. However, I still enjoy it, especially the later entries!
Elsewhere, I decided to relaunch Bioshock Infinite on Switch. It’s been a while since I last played it and I’m interested to see if the gameplay and storytelling hold up. I remember that bird thing was cool and I was jumping on those hooks, but other than that, my memory is a bit hazy.

Not wanting to spoil anything, we have something really special for tomorrow and after a little preview of this passionate project courtesy of the lovely Mr. Zion Grassle, I’m going to fire up Mother 3 and actually play this thing. for the first time. I bought it in Japan last year and the fan translation is ready for my trusty GBA – I just haven’t had time to play it! I feel like the game demands and deserves my full attention – it’s not something I want to play for half an hour for months. Let’s see if I can find time this weekend.
In the meantime, have a great weekend everyone, and look forward to some heartfelt goodness in the near future…

I forgot again how brutal promotion to the first division of the Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe league was. Not really anything special going on, so this weekend is the time to play Return of the Jedi complete in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and continue to destroy people in Nintendo Switch Sports.
Game of the Week – Kirby and the Forgotten Land. I wasn’t prepared for so much post-credits game content, and to be honest… Kirby is truly a gift that keeps on giving!
As always, thanks for reading! Don’t forget to leave us a comment below with your game plans for the weekend!
