Greetings, Sentinels! Clem here from the Babylon’s Fall community team. It’s been a while since we showed the game, so I hope you enjoyed the new trailer we just unveiled at E3!
If you haven’t even seen it – we’ve got you covered!
Launched on PS5 and PS4, Babylon’s Fall is an online cooperative action RPG set in a high fantasy world that allows you to fight against powerful enemies and bosses while exploring the mysterious Tower of Babylon. Create your character, defeat giant enemies, collect loot, and craft tools to customize your own construction and style of play!
The good news is: you’ll be able to team up with friends and fight like a four Sentinel party! The news is even better: you absolutely hurt her.
True, Babylon’s Fall follows in the footsteps of previous PlatinumGames boss NieR: Automata and will let you fight to cross the tower with an elegant, frantic and absolutely devastating endless action. Before we dive into any specifics, let’s take a moment to talk about the Gideon Coffin – a key element not only for the story but also the game.
Four Sentinels with Gedeon Coffins at the back.
This mysterious device implanted at the bottom of your character will allow you to use the Gideon Gut, a series of spectral tendons that pop out of the Gideon Coffin that allow for a range of different abilities. Don’t lie, the best of these powers is of course the Gideon Arms. While you can normally use two weapons – one per hand – the Gideon Weapons allow you to equip two more! Yes, you read that right: you can use four weapons at any one time! Pretty crazy, especially when you can mix and match weapons to your liking.
A sword and a hammer equipped like Gideon Arms.
When the game comes out, five types of weapons will be available: swords, hammers, bows, sticks and shields. These will allow for great charge customization, for you to build your ideal Sentinel!
Do you like close combat and heavy weapons? Equip two hammers and two shields! Do you want to be a balanced fighter with two swords, a bow and a shield? Go for it. Are you more of an attentive wizard type? Three sticks and a shield, you understand. Do you really, really, really like bows? Use four bows! Why not – it’s your build after all!
A balanced combination of shield and hammer.
With this in mind, you can give yourself totally renewed gaming experiences simply by trying different constructions! And if … we all equipped four hammers and power through the tower, ha ha … joke … At least what?
The sticks allow powerful attacks in the long run!
Elegant cooperative action
Depending on what weapons are mounted on your Coffin Gideon, different combos and actions will be available, which in turn activate unique abilities – and that’s when PlatinumGames ’mastery of rhythmic and elegant action comes into play.
For example, dodging an enemy’s attack at the last moment will allow you to insinuate yourself into your own conflict. You can wait patiently to attack the enemy, then elude him and counter him as a leader while your friends prepare to unleash their attacks as soon as the enemy is eliminated. Or, if you’re more of an acrobatics enthusiast, you can throw the enemy into the air with your sword so that your friend who really likes bows can shower them with deadly arrows as if they weren’t there tomorrow.
That’s a friend who really, really likes bows.
Developer Interview and Closed Beta
If you missed the show at E3, he also presented a special Developer Interview that gave an inside look at the teams and their vision behind Babylon’s Fall.
We have a lot more of Babylon’s Fall to show later this year – sorry to wait a little longer! See you soon in the tower, Sentinel!
