Wait, did Square Enix just tease a Final Fantasy Tactics remaster?

It’s been a few months since we last heard rumors of a Final Fantasy Tactics remaster, but that doesn’t mean we’ve stopped thinking about it. Today, thoughts of porting to Switch are back in our minds after a recent interview with Theatrhythm Final Bar Line producer Ichiro Hazama and director Masanobu Suzui, who once again hinted at the project (thanks, kitguru).
Hosting on a French site Finland, the interview discusses the upcoming rhythm game Final Fantasy, touching on topics such as its relationship to the series, changes made to the format, and the types of characters we’re likely to see this time around. When asked about the absence of characters from Final Fantasy Tactics, Hazama stated that the game’s development team is currently “incredibly busy” with “another project”. Check out his extended answer below:
The Tactics team is incredibly busy right now, they have other things to do. At the moment they are actively involved in another project, so we just don’t have time to talk to them.
Of course, this is not confirmation of a remaster (after all, the team could have been working on any other project outside of Theatrhythm), but now we know there is anything in the pipeline and anything all the guys from Final Fantasy Tactics are working on it.
Hmm, the official announcement is definitely to put an end to this, as we would say. Since that GeForce leak in 2021, we’ve been keeping our fingers crossed for the Tactics remaster and Maybe this may be the same game that is hinted at here. Time will show…
